El Hierro Scenery MSFS
This add-on replaces the default MSFS ground textures on El Hierro with custom high-resolution color-corrected aerial imagery. It also improves the scenery in several ways and includes optional mesh.
1. Aerial Imagery
- 2 versions with different resolutions and files sizes – you decide which you would like to use and you can switch between versions anytime
- Version “Premium” (6.76 GB): very high resolution, best ratio between sharpness of textures and file size – recommended for the majority of users
- Version “Premium Plus” (22 GB): ultra-high resolution – recommended for the absolute best experience
- Improvements over the default MSFS ground textures include:
- realistic manual color correction that brings El Hierro to life
- optimization for realistic display in MSFS lighting conditions
- sharper image with more visible details (e.g. rock structure)
- no green tint, especially no green roads and no green sand
- no clouds visible on the ground
- higher resolution
2. Mesh (DEM)
- 3 versions with resolutions of 2 m, 4 m and 10 m – you choose the best for your hardware and graphics settings
- Mesh for the airports is included and has been adjusted to eliminate bumps on the ground
- Please note: This mesh is an experimental feature. While scenery and textures are very FPS friendly, this mesh uses more hardware resources, especially the 2 m version. All of the screenshots were taken without the mesh add-on.
3. Scenery
- Upgraded Ports
- added docks and more than 25 hand-placed boats, ships and one cruise ship to the ports
- Other improvements
- added POI markers for 3 landmarks and one city
- removed incorrectly placed trees along the coast and one incorrect river
Aerial imagery and mesh are put together as separate add-ons and can be used independently of one another.

Bin positiv überrascht. Die Performance ist gut und die Farben wirken natürlich. Werde mir sicher noch weitere Teile der Kanaren zulegen. Macht weiter so!

I started with the Lanzarote 8GB version from Island Creations and was delighted about the change in colour and detail the original scenery in MSFS doesn’t offer. However, even more impressive is the premium version with greater resolution. Here is where not only the more natural colours come to benefit but the finer resolution, too, in regard to road lines (which are disturbingly interrupted in the lower resolution version) and outlines of satellite imagery. As VR enthusiast, I can only talk for those who enjoy a 4K resolution like myself with P8KX or G2, VR headsets with lower resolution might not see the difference so much and surely depends on the type of GPU used. The fact that the scenery is way more natural in colour and details, where anyone who likes to be stunned by the beauty of these islands and this includes the whole set of Island Creations so far, makes the expense a worth while investment. It’s like going on holiday for a few hours of exploration. I really look forward to see the last 2 islands of the Canaries still missing with La Palma and Gran Canaria. It would be fab if these updates come soon.
